Jesus – The Light in the Darkened World!

| Sermon Summary by Pray Eucha |

Darkness, in its simplest form, is the absence of light.

But it's more than just a physical phenomenon; it's a metaphor for evil, for the absence of good. We see darkened parts in our world, places where goodness seems to have withdrawn. This withdrawal stems from humanity's choice to turn away from God, a choice symbolized by Adam and Eve's disobedience. That choice, that act of sin, created a separation between us and God, bringing darkness and death into the world.

God originally created a world filled with goodness. He rejoiced in his creation. But he also gave us free will, and with that freedom came the possibility of choosing darkness. This darkness manifests itself in so many ways: a lack of truth, a constant striving for more, a lack of compassion for others, and a relentless pursuit of vanity – money, pleasure, fleeting relationships. These are the signs of a broken world, a world that has rejected its creator.

But even in our rebellion, God's love for us remains. He didn't abandon us. Instead, he sent Jesus Christ, as the light into this darkened world. His purpose was to reverse this darkness, to heal the brokenness. But he can't force this change upon anyone. It requires a choice, a willingness to accept him. He doesn't simply erase all suffering; He calls people to repent, to turn away from the empty pursuits of the world and back to God. Reconciliation requires justice. Because of our rejection of God, we deserve punishment. So, he took that punishment upon himself, through the crucifixion. This sacrifice opened the way for reconciliation between humanity and God.

Even today, we haven't fully accepted this grace and surrendered our life to God. We continue to chase after vanity, living in darkness. Jesus calls us to repent and surrender. Come back to God, find rest and reconciliation. The world is darkened by human choices, but he offers a path back to the light, a restored relationship with God.

Jesus is the light of the world, and he invites us to have a the restored relationship with him.

Are you willing to surrender to his love today?
