Phil 2:9-11

Many feel that they are too sinful for Jesus to be able to give them salvation. Some feel that they are trapped in the quagmire of sin and cannot escape, even with the help of God. Some feel that they invited Jesus into their lives, but it did not work. They are still trapped in their sinful lives.

It does not matter, where you are, what your experiences have been, Jesus can save you.

There are certain requirements to experience that salvation which He promises.

Phil 2:9-11 reads as,

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

We need to bow our knees to Jesus, or surrender our lives to Him. I have to have absolute faith in the atoning work He has done, and also absolute faith that He loves me and cares for me, so that I surrender my life to Him. That is what Paul says in Col 3:1-4.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God, Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Do not let earthly things dominate your life, but rather the things of God and His kingdom. When we do that, the Holy Spirit begins to work in our life and transform it into something new. As Jesus said, we cannot serve two masters. We live in this world but serve a Master who is in the kingdom of God.

Even after surrendering our life to Jesus, we find that we struggle with sin. But the power of the Holy Spirit slowly gives us the victory and we begin to live in the realm of the impossible as He takes over our lives.

Rom 8:14-17 reads as,

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Apart from the bondage of sin and we have several other bondages. One of the main bondage is that of lack of self esteem. In Christ, we are delivered from that, for when my identity is being a child of God, I need no other identity. The other is a fear of tomorrow … and many more. Jesus can deliver us from all of these, as we live for Him.

God has a plan for my life according to Psalm 139:13-16. So, I do not need to fear anything when I have surrendered my life to Jesus. We can leave everything in His hands and not try to control God to do what we want, but submit to His will in our lives.

As you study the Bible, walk with God into the realm of the impossible and soar into new experiences that will strengthen your faith in Him.

Have you surrendered your life to Him?
