Love and Patience

| Sermon Thought by Racheeta Nayak |

How is it possible to do all things in love? I had been pondering on this verse in 1 Corinthians 16 :14 after the sermon last Sunday which reads as such “Let all that you do be done in love“.

During the watch night service last year as soon as the clock struck 12, I asked God to teach me patience this year not knowing what I was asking for. Well, He has taken this request seriously. I have had trouble with correcting my younger ones at home with love, especially when I see them doing the same blunder again and again while I have to clean up the mess.

I thought to myself, I hear a lot of Love you’s from them, but those words have no meaning when it is not shown in action. Immediately it was like a knock on my head - how many times has my heavenly Father forgiven me when I do the same blunder again and again and then sing songs to Him which I don’t mean at all?

We need to practice 1 Corinthians 13 in our daily lives and not just expect it from others. There is always something to learn in every trial and God has His own ways to teach us. Learning to be patient is not at all easy; there are days when you create tantrums like a toddler in front of God, days of terrible breakdowns and unrest.

To do everything in love is a challenge but when I remember what God has done in my life, I am humbled. He has picked me up from the miry clay and put me on the rock to stay. He did not give up on me at my worst and I know He expects me to show the same Love towards others. He is still working on you so don’t lose hope - there will be days when you feel down but remember our God is patient and kind, He’s slow to anger and abounding in love.

God bless you all.
